I am interested in the application of formal concept analysis to practical computing problems: document browsing, access control and data analysis. I also maintain secondary interests in applications of ICT in health informatics, including aspects of the use of SNOMED-CT and HL7v3 in distributed health care solutions.
Affiliated with the UoW Center for Health Services Development as a Professorial Research Fellow, my substantive paid position is as a T&R Professor in the School of Information Systems and Technology at the UoW where I teach foundation subjects in C#, Databases and Systems Analysis. I also teach advanced courses in the Information Science: Information Design, Content Management and the Semantic Web. As a hobby interest, I teach MBA classes in Supply Chain Management and Information Systems for Managers.
I am an ARC OzReader and Canadian NSERC reviewer. I regularly serve the Australian Computer Society (ACS) on degree accreditation panels and was elected a Fellow the ACS in 2008. I was program co-chair of the Concept lattices and Applications Conference in Montpellier in 2007 and Program Chair of the 16th International Conference on Conceptual structures (see http://www.iccs.info) in Toulouse in 2008.
I currently collaborate with the Australian Museum in Sydney to build the Virtual Museum of the Pacific based on Concept Lattices and am working closely with Peter Goodall. From Jan 2009 I am on the Advisory Board of Safety, Security Management company, Thorsol Pty Ltd. In 2009 I established the Centre for Digital Ecosystems at the UOW.

In 2008 I rejoined Informatics and the School of Information Systems and Technology where I presently perform the role of Head of Postgraduate Studies.
Joint Winner of QLD ICT Award (2001) with Ph. Martin.
Elected Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (2008).
