The company began as a consulting service in 1990. The responsibility for policy development was shared between two co-owners. This meant conducting classes and developing or recommending reference text, as well as responsibility for graphics, layout, text and editing on all IRMWare product documentation. When IRMWare used technical consultants and temporary clerical staff, responsibilities included the coordination of work and testing of the technical projects results.
In 1996, IRMWare renewed its focus on consulting and custom software development and withdrew from retail software sales. IRMWare’s reputation for excellence as a small business earned it recognition as an IBM partner company. The company sold out to IBM the same year.
