Paul Tovell’s Summary

I am an enthusiastic and highly motivated public librarian with experience in stock management, reader development, local studies writing, and career development and training. I am interested in managing teams of people and resources to create a highly efficient and popular public library service, promoting reader development to all, and training people to develop their careers.

Key Achievements

- I contributed to the success of Nottinghamshire's National Year of Reading by creating reader development sessions for children which increased boys' loans by 30% on previous year. I also came up with the idea for promoting reading on the local train line which made local TV news and for which I won a local award.

- I project-managed a local studies book involving a newly formed community group. We published the resulting title only thirteen months after the initial meeting.

- I have led a team to organise two Managing Your Career conferences with the East Midlands Career Development Group. 90% of all feedback was "good" or better.
