Paul is CEO & Founder of emota.net, a Silicon Valley start-up in stealth mode. emota.net has a team of top notch scientists working on an exciting new category of products, applying latest research in ambient intelligence, awareness systems and emotional communications to Health 2.0.
Prior to emota.net, Paul was in charge of Nortel's Incubator and it's Open Innovation programs. Paul joined Nortel in September 2006 with 18+ years of experience driving innovation and commercialization of new technologies. He ran part of Nortel's Advanced Technology Labs and he brought a Silicon Valley style venture process model into Nortel. Within a short 18 months, the incubator Paul set up generated two industry innovation awards, 40+ patents, 2 self-sustaining ventures, and 4 additional ventures than spun back into Nortel as next generation technology platforms.
Before Nortel, Paul played leadership roles in very large companies like HP, Bank of Montreal, a Silicon Valley 2001 IPO called Riverstone Networks, and ran his own $1M+ OSS Software business. Paul has a proven track record in entrepreneurial innovation, and in his ability to recognize & incubate strategic opportunities from the very early stages. Paul's current passion is in studying and practicing open innovation models, and unleashing hidden power of innovation that is embedded within many large and complex organizations.
