Paul Gauthier is the CTO of Groupon, working to scale and enhance the premier global platform for local e-commerce.
Previously, Paul was a co-founder and CTO of Ludic Labs where he designed and developed a new class of online advertising, loyalty and promotional tools for local businesses.
Paul was also a co-founder and CTO of Inktomi Corporation, a pioneering internet technology company. Paul invented and developed Inktomi's search engine, the first commercial search engine based on distributed-memory parallel computation, allowing it to scale with the rapid growth of the Internet. Until recently, Paul's work lived on as Yahoo! Search.
Paul has conducted academic research on Internet systems, distributed computing and search technology in the graduate programs of the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Washington.
Paul is an active angel investor and advisor to numerous technology companies. Past investments include Xoopit, Teracent, and IndexTank which were acquired by Yahoo, Google and LinkedIn.
