Paul Dumais’s Summary

Paul is a wireless application visionary. His expertise include creating new products, developing product strategy and leading development teams to bring wireless applications to market. He has over 13 years of professional experience in all mobile application development technologies including BlackBerry, Java, .NET, Palm and Windows Mobile.

Paul is also a contributing author of O'Reilly's BlackBerry Hacks book, in which he wrote the chapter on getting started with BlackBerry programming.

Paul began his passion for wireless communication and technology when he got his amateur radio license as a teenager in a small town in northern Canada. He fabricated his own antennas for satellite communication, and programmed software for packet radio communication on his amateur radio.

After receiving a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Ottawa, Paul became one of the first experts in the Java programming language and was a developer of Corel Office for Java, as well as a developer on JavaBeans and JavaHelp at Sun Microsystems. In 1999 Paul co-founded his first company, creating world class bug tracking software, the technology was acquired by MKS and went on to win many awards branded as MKS Integrity Manager.

After MKS Paul co-founded Idokorro Mobile (later renamed Rove Mobile), where he created Rove's award winning wireless products and built the company to have thousands of customers and millions of dollars in annual revenues.
