Paul Smith’s Summary

Co-founded GTronix, Inc., a Silicon Valley semiconductor start-up, in 2002. GTronix has received $23 million in venture funding since 2004. GTronix applies proprietary programmable analog technology and novel design techniques to realize sophisticated DSP algorithms in analog integrated circuits; yielding smaller, lower-power solutions than traditional DSP implementations.

Worked with co-founders and university venture incubator team at Georgia Tech to develop initial collateral for investor pitches for VCs and obtain funding. Worked with founding team to build Corporate and Engineering infrastructure including IT, tools and foundry accounts.

Lead circuit architect for first revenue generating product line at GTronix overseeing architecture/algorithm translation, circuit development and spec requirements. Built the signal processing cores and designed them to perform with ultra-low power consumption.

Built GTronix Dallas Design Center from 2 circuit designers to a team of 6 engineers. Trained and managed the design team to use our specific proprietary low-power design techniques to deliver a complete IC design.

Acting Program Manager for advanced research programs with two universities. Manage, advise, and align university projects with GTronix product roadmap to ensure delivery of robust low-power solutions to strengthen GTronix technology portfolio.

Earned Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2004. Thesis work (Analog VLSI Speech Recognition Architecture) explored novel analog architectures for Automatic Speech Recognition. Have published 4 journal papers, and 14 conference publications. Hold two patents and have two patents pending.
