Artist & Writer at The Pat Wooldridge Studio
Portland, Maine Area
A practicing artist in several media, from the age of 10 or 11, to the present time. Commissioned animal portrait artist since 1991 with satisfied clients across the country and owners of my Limited Edition prints in Canada and the Netherlands. Great emphasis, always, on accuracy and sensitivity of portrayal. Careful attention to my photography of subjects. As a result,some photographs are portraits in themselves. Several one-woman shows in Maine, plus a showing in New York. Participation in juried art shows in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New York.
Continuing to participate in juried art fairs and in exhibitions at State fairs including Fryeburg Fair, Fryeburg, ME, where I will for the 8th year, exhibit my art in the Craft Center---a juried exhibit at this 8-day fair.
I look forward to expanding my art to include seascapes in oil, now that I am again near the ocean; rural subjects such as old barns, unique trees, fences, sleighs, wagons. A variety of media will be used: pastels, colored pencils, ink, watercolor. Speaking of watercolor, I can't omit the Fishing Flies, done in a combination of watercolor and pen-and-ink.
More writing is planned, concerning mustang rescue facilities in New England. Creative nonfiction would be the way to go with this---not dry facts and figures.The feeling must come through in the writing. As for fiction, will look to starting another book, and more short pieces---both fiction and nonfiction, once the middle-grade novel is finished.
Creating commissioned animal portraits in graphite pencil;
writing about horses---both fiction and nonfiction; writing for my website.
