John Patrick Oliveros’s Summary

A web developer by profession and a photographer as a hobbyist. I have been working 3 years (as of this writing) for various companies and gained insights/industry experience on both technical and marketing skills.

My work with Microsoft Philippines as an academic developer evangelist opened me to the role with that of a developer and evangelist. With a specific market to focus on, which is the academe, I spearheaded academic launches of Visual Studio 2005 through technical talks and at the same time interacted with faculty and students with regards to improving curricula offering using Microsoft technologies.

After having an end-of contract with Microsoft, I transferred to GMA New Media, Inc. as a web developer for a consumer website, the Philippine Entertainment Portal. This is the largest web application that I have helped plan and developed to date. Also, I participated in small module updates/additions in various GMA New Media web applications such as All Access, and Eleksyon 2007 website.

Currently, I am working with Emerson Electric as a .NET web developer focusing on developing forms for the e-commerce websites and internal web applications. Part of my responsibilities is to propose proof of concept applications to replace legacy systems to the .NET 3.0/3.5 platform particularly Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF).

My personal goal is to have my own software development house before I reach the age of 30. In order to achieve this, I establish rapport with fellow developers, co-workers, former managers and with the people I meet with in my technical talk engagements and gain ideas from them. Also, even on my free time, whenever possible, I develop applications to increase my development skills and improve whatever skill that I currently have.

Recently, I am awarded as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for ASP/ASP.NET technologies for the July 2008 cycle by Microsoft Corporation.
