Dionysios Pantazatos's Education

University of California, San Diego

PhD, Biomedical Science

20002006

My thesis work involved using Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry to facilitate the determination of protein structure and characterize protein conformational changes upon drug or ligand interaction. CV publications can be found on PubMed at www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed with keyword "pantazatos"

A major component of my thesis work was patented through the University of California entitled: "Methods for the determination of protein three-dimensional protein structure employing hydrogen exchange analysis to refine computational structure prediction"

Thesis available on amazon.com
Patent available on http://ep.espacenet.com/

University of Michigan

MS, Human Genetics

19951996

During this time I conducted research in gene regulation of factor IX and understanding of molecular mechanisms of hemophilia causing mutations in these gene.

Activities and Societies: US Tae Kwon Do Team

Northwestern University

BS, Biomedical Engineering

19901994

My major had an emphasis in chemical engineering with a minor in protein biochemistry. My biomedical engineering honors project involved the design and construction of an extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation unit (ECMO) ( otherwise known as temporary artificial heart) for neonates.
My protein biochemistry thesis involved the study of th structure of the red cell membrane protein spectrin which is responsible for maintaining red blood cell integrity and shape.
