I am Director of the Media Psychology Research Center with Dr. Erik Gregory and in collaboration with Fablevision. I am also an instructor of media psychology at UCLA Extension and adjunct faculty at Fielding Graduate University. I have a background in communication design, business management, and media psychology. My current interests include understanding the role of social media in branding and entrepreneurship and applying positive psychology to media analysis and development.
I began my career designing and developing media for financial and educational institutions. I received the 1988 Gold Medal Award for Creativity from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
I am also trained as a therapist. For a number of years, I worked with an eating disordered population. I also developed communications seminars for cross-cultural understanding among American administrators and Japanese teens in a residential high school setting.
I have an MBA from the Drucker School of Business at Claremont Graduate University and a MA and PhD in psychology with an emphasis on Media from Fielding Graduate University.
My recent research examined the impact of media on measures of cooperation and conflict between the U.S. and China. With Erik Gregory at MPRC, I am also working on developing an assesment approach that evaluates media from a positive psychology perspective focusing on personal strengths. MPRC also publishes the Media Psychology Review (http://www.mediapsychologyreview.com)
