I am a highly creative, motivated, beyond-the-call person always up for an exciting, challenging, opportunity that values these strengths. As a veteran communications expert I have worked in marketing, the newspaper industry, online publishing, non-profit development, advertising and any job that includes communicating with others. I've worked in more than 25 countries and have traveled the globe to research, interview and capture stories and I've enjoyed every minute of it. In 2008, I founded FITT LLC, as a training and coaching summer program for minority youth age 8 to 14 in Colorado Springs. Youth received swim, cycle and run training as well as nutrition plans written by well-known nutritionist Bob Seebohar, who works with Olympic medalists and training plans written by USAT Level 1 coaches.
After moving to Chicago and working with Bernard Lyles and Tri-Masters tri training program for youth, I decided I wanted to transition to offering triathlon training for adults, specifically for minorities who were stymied by the swim.
One month after completing an Ironman race (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, 26.2 run), I received my certification as a swim coach from United States Masters Swimming (USMS). Next step is USAT Level 1 Coaching certification.
In September 2014, FITT partnered with the Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center on Chicago's south side to bring it's first 12-week triathlon training program for adults.
I have done more than 30 races and lost 110lbs on my way to completing Ironman Cozumel in 2013. Other races include 4-1/2 Ironmans, and more than 15 Olympics, sprint triathlons and numerous aquathlons. She’s also competed in several half-marathons, two marathons and numerous 5K’s and 10K’s.
I love the sport of triathlon. I love racing. But I love coaching even more. When you achieve your dream it is only fitting that you turn around and help others achieve theirs as well. There's an Iron-dream in all of us. Are you willing to make it come true?
