Orville Pierson is the author of The Unwritten Rules of the Highly Effective Job Search (McGraw-Hill) and Highly Effective Networking: Meet the Right People and Get a Great Job (Career Press).
He is also Senior Vice President, Corporate Director of Program Design and Service Delivery for Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH), a $200 million career services company with 240 offices worldwide. LHH is wholly owned by Adecco SA, a global employment services firm with 5800 offices in 68 countries.
Orville creates books, Websites and videos to teach career management and job search to LHH’s clients, who number up to 100,000 per year. He also designs training materials for LHH’s staff of 3,000, and trains career consultants.
With LHH since 1992, he is the sole or principal author of dozens of LHH publications, including:
-- Executive Directions: Creating Options in Life and Work, a career management book for senior executives.
-- Managing Your Search Project, a comprehensive job search guide for people in the $40,000 to $100,000 income bracket.
-- The Road to Entrepreneurship, a guidebook for first-time entrepreneurs.
-- What’s Next? A Road Map for Exploring the Rest of Your Life, a guidebook for the Baby Boomers of creating better life balance in their so-called “retirement” years, whether they choose to work or not.
Prior to joining LHH, Orville created the ground-breaking job search assistance methodology called Job Search Work Teams. Earlier, he worked for a number of other career services firms.
In addition to his position at LHH, Orville does volunteer work with not-for-profit organizations. He has been in the career services field since 1977 as a program and process designer, author, speaker and facilitator as well as consultant and career coach to hundreds of private clients. His education includes a 1965 BA from Yale University and certification in psychological instruments for career assessment.
