Olivier Guyot's Summary
January 2001 until March 2005: more than 4 years at NOKIA Research Center, Helsinki, Finland – Mobile Networks laboratory.
Nokia delegate in the 3GPP standardization process, specialized in the Iu interface (between UMTS Radio Network Controller and Core Network) and more generally in UTRAN architecture and protocols, as well as inter-system and UMTS system-level issues. Active participation since January 2001 in 3GPP RAN WG3 group (between 6-8 one-week meetings per year). Expert and contributor role in various research&development projects and programs. Nokia main coordinator and contact in various research&standardisation activities.
March 2005-2008, moved to Taiwan to switch from standardisation and R&D to real network rollout, operation and maintenance. Main focus on:
- Chunghwa Telecom extensive rollout of 3G RAN network
- Taiwan Mobile care management, operation&maintenance of HSDPA RAN network (Senior RAN expert leading the RAN care team).
Since March 2008, moved back to Europe, but still in a new country to discover: Portugal. The ramping up of a new Global Care center in such a great location as Lisbon was too much of an attractive challenge. Furthermore my new position put me right in the middle/role of facilitating the new Nokia Siemens working culture in this ex-Siemens site that should support ex-Nokia RAN products.

- 3G/WCDMA/UMTS (standardisation and real deployed networks) with emphasis on RAN (Radio Access Network).
- human interaction, diplomacy and sensitivity towards customer and within multi-cultural teams

Olivier Guyot's Education
Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan
Master, Telecommunications
2000 – 2001
I wanted to finish my studies in the best place where I can, at the same time, acquire the most updated telecommunication knowledge and live in the most advanced European country in terms of telecommunication and mobile market. Therefore, as the English language and international opening were to be highly essential features of my career, I participated for one semester in the International exchange program within the Master's Program in Telecommunication at HUT (Helsinki University of Technology) in Finland. http://www.tkk.fi/English/
Institut national des Sciences appliquées de Lyon
Master, Telecommunications Services & Uses
1996 – 2001
INSA Lyon's end objective is to qualify first rate engineers. This is taken into account as from the first year of the five-year curriculum.
The curriculum is composed of:
* A two-year first cycle, with the first year being a preliminary year serving to provide students with the basic training and all the elements they will need to choose their speciality from the 12 fields proposed by the University. My rank at the end of two years : 24th out of 640 students.
* A three-year second cycle, during which the general training is completed with more advanced teaching in the field of speciality, and during which students are required to carry out an end-of-year industrially oriented assignment in a research laboratory.
For this three-year second cycle, my speciality department of choice at INSA of Lyon was the Department of Telecommunication, Services & Uses, one of the first of its kind, at that time, in France and in Europe.
Activities and Societies: One of the founders and President during two years of the students’ union of my former university department.
