I have been connected with education and learning since studying for my B.Ed (1978 - 82) and taught my first class at the age of 18 – I think some of the kids were the same age as me!
I was a general manager of a fairly large leisure group (1984 - 1992) where we innovated wildly and introduced a range of new activities to Scotland. Through a lucky twist of fate I moved back into people development. Whilst running a course for our company a passer by asked if we could run one for them!
My life has been about helping people and organisations realise their potential - whether it is my little boy Thomas or a client. I say client but we really don’t work that way. We partner - work together because we are good for each other and only if we are! Lots of people say the same because it sounds right. We do it because if feels right.
Work finds me developing teams, leaders, facilitating tough business issues, coaching and lecturing. For 8 years I have worked part time with the Department of Management, Strathclyde University delivering on various masters’ programmes.
I have my B.Ed., an MBA, counselling and coaching quantifications and am in the pool of National Coaches for dinghy sailing and power boating. For 20 years I have offered my services part time to Tayside Police - a 'hoby boby'. My bit for our community.
I have a broad portfolio of skills, abilities and experience that add richness; being able to connect. Life is not in boxes is it! I have worked extensively across the Middle East (Arab Emirates, Oman, and Bahrain etc) as well as right across Europe. We spend time in France as a family – mainly in Chamonix.
I read extensively – particularly current material. I am also an expert in using experiential leaning - have a look at our web site www.tblod.com. I am as happy lecturing to 120 students in the Middle East as coaching a team in a force 4 aboard a RIB (see if you can figure that one out).
