ARCHETYPE IN A BOTTLE -- An Art Installation Inside the 190th Street A-train Subway Station
During the month of September 2009, the 190th Street A-train Subway Station will be an Art Gallery hosting a Solo Exhibition that encourages the viewers to become participants and run amok.
Washington Heights
Manhattan

Elevator Pitch:
Install art posters into the under-utilized advertising receptacles of a subway station in northern Manhattan - the 190th Street A-train Subway Station. And, this art installation, in addition to being a buzz in and of itself, would simultaneously double as a highly effective advertising campaign for Sharpie® brand permanent markers, KRINK® brand permanent markers, and Junobo® paint markers. To maintain the high impact of the advertising campaign and the Art Installation itself, the Sharpie®, KRINK®, and Junobo® logos will NOT appear on the posters. Everytime the Art Installation is mentioned in the text, audio, and video posts of cyber space, the Sharpie®, KRINK®, and Junobo® brands will be talked about. The viewers of the art posters will be given the opportunity to mark-up the posters using Sharpie® and KRINK® brand permanent markers and Junobo® paint markers.

About Tom McAlister:
Tom McAlister (aka NYC ART STAR, www.nycartstar.com) is an installation artist residing in NYC. His proposed project is to partner with Out-Of-Home advertisers, Sharpie® brand permanent markers, KRINK® brand permanent markers, and Junobo® paint markers to install his INTERACTIVE art installation into the 190th Street A-Train Subway Station in Washington Heights, northern Manhattan and then watch the viewers run amok and EXPLODE THEIR CREATIVITY. THE FEELING OF IT HAPPENING.
About the 190th Street A-train Subway Station:
Situated in Washington Heights, northern Manhattan, 140 feet underground, the 190th Street A-train Subway Station is your stop to access the beautiful Ft Tryon Park and the Met's Cloisters Museum. With walls that have a curved tunnel bore look, the 190th Street A-train Subway Station still possesses all of its aesthetically captivating Wine Cellar and Roman Aqueduct inspired design as it did when it opened to the public in 1932.

NY, FDNY, NYPD, NYCT, NYSD... How about FRBNY?! The Federal Reserve Bank of New York. They print the money after all!
Baseball cap. Blue. 100% cotton. Gold embroidery logo: FRBNY. "The baseball cap gives one the feeling of being a maintenance worker assigned to the FRBNY's deep-underground bullion vault -- moving gold bricks from 'cage country-A' to 'cage country-B' and getting gold dust on your hands and apron."
Knit winter skihat. Black. Gold embroidery logo: FRBNY. "The winter skihat gives one the feeling of being a maintenance worker assigned to the FRBNY's grounds crew -- shoveling the sidewalk and shifting around cars inside the VIP parking lot."
Depending on weather conditions, hand out either the FRBNY baseball cap or skihat to homeless men in the streets of NYC.
Note: This project will re-run from Sept 2008 thru 3/2009 to coincide with NYC Fashion Weeks in Sept and Feb. And the US presidential election, of course!
