As an IT consultant in healthcare, I have recently been helping an international pharmaceutical company to decide on the future of their freeware for general practitioners. The freeware helps the GP follow-up his patients in a better and more clinical way.

Another customer has asked me to help them with the development of their patient information system for hospitals. The application is a Windows application written in .NET and has a SQL Server database in the back-end.

For 4.5 years I was the IT responsible for the R&D department of Barco Medical Imaging Systems.
In that position, I developed several ASP and ASP.NET applications with an SQL Server database. Some of these applications are still being used on a daily basis by several Barco sites all over the world. Having developed the applications myself, I also organised training sessions of these applications.

After two years I had the opportunity to be part of a steering committee that helped Barco decide what project planning application to use for the coming years. When the decision was made, I travelled to several Barco sites for presenting training sessions to the future users of the application called Hydra. Once the training sessions ended, I took the role of first line helpdesk responsible.
