September 2008 — May 2009 (9 months)
I wear many hats at iSB (as I seem to do everywhere I go). I work on the web design at www.internationalspeakers.com. I'm tech support. I do video. I manage databases. I manage vendors, overseeing SEO and PPC efforts. I teach colleagues how to use some of the tools we have. I manage and distribute email blasts. I build tracking reports (from Google Analytics and our own database). And I try to convince my coworkers, on occasion, to consider the environment before printing.
(Marketing and Advertising industry)
June 2007 — February 2008 (9 months)
Initially, the job was simply a video shoot in Kenya, which turned into a conversation about a startup, which resulted in my first “Marketing Director” position.
I did everything from market research to segmentation to web design to PPC research to graphic design to designing the office space we built. I learned a great deal about how to put together a complete story from practically nothing, as well as many of the other lessons a small startup teaches you -- about budgets, handling mistakes, selling people on an idea, and having passion for your job.
(Public Company; Media Production industry)
April 2007 — June 2007 (3 months)
I worked with a team to develop 30 and 60 second television ads for local clients. I also made intensive changes and improvements to the incoming media database. My team was also responsible for the production of local origination programming, including two live shows.
I really enjoyed this job, especially my boss, but an opportunity arose that I simply could not pass up. One of those "once-in-a-lifetime" things.
(Marketing and Advertising industry)
2005 — 2007 (2 years )
What began as summer freelancing job editing video turned into a two-year stint telling client’s stories. Soon I was lighting, filming, writing, editing and producing stories for TV ads, websites, and promotional DVDs. The job ended just before my last semester of college.
(Music industry)
2006 — 2006 (less than a year)
Random connection through a friend, which gave me the opportunity to submit a song for a montage sequence in the film "Pezheads". You can find it on imdb.com. My song was called "Head on a Pez".
I hope to do more someday.
(Graphic Design industry)
2005 — 2006 (1 year )
Unlike most of the other jobs I’ve listed, at VIP Jackson I did exactly what I was hired to do: layout design for magazine stories and designing print advertisements for West TN clients.
The accomplishment for me was successfully creating these ads and layouts, while also taking a full course load and telling stories on video at DCA / DCPR.
