In addition to the company's selection of Grey New York as E*Trade's advertising agency of record, Nick Utton's fingerprint on E*Trade's marketing strategies can be witnessed in E*Trade's history of advertising work with known search engine Google. Digitization in marketing is an idea Nicholas Utton has long emphasized in his work with E*Trade, and much of Utton's marketing resources are automatically relegated to web-based advertising campaigns.

Outside of his professional career, Nicholas Utton is an accomplished athlete. A sailor, snow skier, scuba diver and runner, (Utton has completed three New York marathons) Nick Utton is also an active player of squash, tennis, and golf, and is a coach of youth community sports.
