WHO IS NICHOLAS BRAAK?: A sharp guy with a fresh point-of-view, a sense of humor and a cool head. Knows his stuff. Great insight. Asks a lot of questions. Amazingly resourceful. Has an accent.
BACKGROUND: An independent consultant, a founder and an owner of businesses for 20+ years, in New York City and Santa Fe, New Mexico. I was born in South Africa, emigrated to the UK in 1979, then came to the USA in 1981 to study recording engineering. I never left.
EDUCATION: The one that's proven most useful is my post-grad degree from the University of Life (The New York City campus.) Our school motto: If you can make it here you can make it anywhere.
SKILLS: As a double-frontal (brain) I bring to the table both the left-brained logic of the tech world, and the right-hand side's creative and imaginative skills. I am driven to ask questions, see patterns, build, explore, create value and make improvements. Conversely I am equally at home rolling up my sleeves and wielding a screwdriver, crunching data, brainstorming web copy, writing an insightful comment or listening attentively to a CEO's problems. Sometimes I do all of these at the same time.
HOW DO I DO IT?: I am constantly reading, learning, looking for patterns and testing ideas. I follow macro-economics, marketing, social networks, attention, persuasion, personal development, commerce, privacy, innovation, collaboration, sales, psychology, blogging, broadband, cyber-crime and virtual business. And I still stay current with computers, the Internet and business in general.
I'M A RESOURCE: I share knowledge, resources and advice, will speak to groups, be interviewed, be on a panel, give a second opinion, comment on blogs, write an article and more.
