I am currently living in Brooklyn, NY, working with a communications firm and completing a graduate certificate in public relations from New York University.
My professional experience includes work in communications, editing and writing, with a common thread of interest in cities and architecture.
Subjects such as historic preservation, green building, architecture, design, minority and women representation, insurance and sustainability are familiar ground for me. I have worked in video editing, as a reporter, freelance writer, editor and communications manager.
In the past, my work been done in a variety of settings including local government, in real estate in a non-profit association and as a community reporter for newspapers in Pittsburgh and San Francisco. I have also edited a web magazine about sustainable city life, The New Colonist, for almost ten years.

About a year after finishing my graduate work in urban studies, and living at the dawn of the internet age, I wanted to start my own web magazine about city living. I soon found Rick Risemberg who, living in Los Angeles, had similar aspirations. The New Colonist was born. In these cyber pages we have chronlicled the 9-11, the green revolution, the rebirth of mass transit and other topics important to city residents. Today between 1200 and 2200 individuals a day visit our online magazine. Don't forget to join our group on LinkedIn!
(Real Estate industry)
January 2005 — March 2008 (3 years 3 months)
I've always had major admiration for small business people and entrepreneurs. After returning to Pittsburgh from San Francisco, the lure of small business and the love of buildings and architecture drew me to real estate. This was, for the most part a boom time for real estate, but Pittsburgh is less of a boom and bust market than other cities. In addition to selling properties, I also bought and sold a few of my own and maintain several historic rental properties in Pittsburgh.
