I am currently focussed on consolidating and strengthening a portfolio of various projects all of which broadly support Medical Communications Professionals working in and around the global pharmaceutical industry.
The MedComms Networking Community is a central part of this at www.MedCommsNetworking.co.uk and now boasts 1,000 members and regular educational and networking events in the UK.
Activity in several niche areas is then being developed around this, aimed at the global audience. The two key areas currently are:
www.ThePublicationPlan.com - a unique central online information resource for publication planning specialists, medical writers, publishers, journal editors and medical communications professionals
www.EuropeanCMEforum.eu - developed in collaboration with Eugene Pozniak of Siyemi Learning, this has already established itself as a key platform for discussion and information sharing amongst all the CME stakeholders in Europe.
Additionally, I publish regular KeywordPharma Expert Reviews and Conference Insights Reports for the pharmaceutical industry which can be found at www.KeywordPharma.com

May 1998 — April 2002 (4 years)
InPharm.com was developed to provide a destination portal site and information services specifically for individuals working in the global pharmaceutical and medical industries - it is now owned by Wiley Blackwell and serves simply as an industry jobs board. But for a while back there, it nearly worked!

October 1993 — April 2002 (8 years 7 months)
In the good old days of very slow modems and the earliest forms of Acrobat and web-enabled applications, we were one of the very first Med Comms agencies in the UK to aim specifically to work with virtual teams wherever possible in order to deliver high quality, highly cost-effective communications solutions to the global pharmaceutical and medical industries. Anything from slide kits and conference reports, to peer -review publications and monographs. We also set up one of the very first award-winning healthcare web sites at www.sb--oxy.com. The work online led directly to the development of the InPharm.com range of services.

March 1992 — October 1993 (1 year 8 months)
Oh those crazy days! Any of the many who worked for OCC in the 90s will know what I mean. Providing medical communications solutions to the pharmaceutical industry, I focussed mainly on head offices of pharma companies based in Belgium, Switzerland and Germany.
(Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Pharmaceuticals industry)
March 1989 — March 1991 (2 years 1 month)
I worked in what at that time was a special projects division within a successful small international medical publishing company. I was working with mainly UK-based Pharma Companies but, in truth, I may be best remembered now for my appearance as the first front-end of a pantomine horse which for a while thereafter made a regular appearance at the annual Christmas party. Other (front and back) ends of that horse have now gone on to significantly higher and better positions within the medical communications business.
(Public Company; 10,001 or more employees; BAY; Pharmaceuticals industry)
October 1981 — March 1989 (7 years 6 months)
Following my degree I joined as a CRA for Bayer, working on their antifungal portfolio and then moved positions several times before heading off out of big Pharma and into the service sector. For better or worse.
