Vicki Kolovou’s Summary

My initial studies were in the field of Food Technology and I worked for over 16years for a Greek technical Wood Industry magazine- changing between many positions in the company, including the Graphic Design & DTP department. Meanwhile I started my degree in IT & Computing at the UK Open University and upon completion decided to embark on my own business. Apart from CEO I am also one of the Web developers of the firm, that now employees 6 people.

netWire specialises in web development and Internet promotion solutions combined with graphic design. I believe that our strong point is the trust we build with our customers giving them solutions that vary from websites to promoting their product outside the Internet.

netWire has also produced its own Internet product called StreetGuides : Online Shopping Street Guides, with www.ermou.gr its flagship. ermou.gr has been online for about a year (since Oct.'08) and has managed to become an important guide on finding your away around the shops in the major commercial road of Athens. In the future more StreetGuides will be developed.

netWire is involved in web development and Internet promotion. The company was started by Vicki Kolovou and currently employees 2 web developers, 2 administration staff and 2 fashion editors.

Apart from projects for customers, netWire has developed its own project named StreetGuides , an umbrella that will include all the individual Online Shopping Street Guides for specific streets.
Ermou.gr Online Shopping Street Guide, is the flagship of the project and is already very successful with over 20.000 monthly unique visitors and new stores added daily. Ermou Street is the major commercial road of Athens, found right in the centre of the city with most major brand stores found here.
General aim of the StreetGuide project is to expand the concept to other places in Athens, for example kifisias.gr, patision.gr, peiraios.gr, skoufa.gr and stadiou.com, all major avenues in Athens and include over 1000 shops under one big umbrella.

The magazine held the publication monopoly in the wood industry field for over 10 years and although the company was small this meant it played an influential role in the field. I was asked to play many roles depending on the magazine's needs starting from my permanent role as responsible for its monthly publishing (technically) up to contacting clients, solving issues that arose within the company's operations and many more. Graphic design was something on the side that I involved myself with, during my less busy hours, but the magazine was always my vault to learn more and more.
