English language trainer on-site, online and in Second Life
Turkey
I am a language trainer with the Diploma in English language teaching to Adults from the Cambridge University. I work as a freelance teacher and teach online and in the 3D world Second Life.
I have worked as a language trainer in different countries for nine years and have taught general, business and technical English at different levels to students of all ages and backgrounds.
My main interests are language learning and teaching using web 2.0 tools and virtual worlds, learner motivation and learner autonomy.
I have co-moderated an online 6-week session for language teachers on how to use Second Life for learning and teaching languages which drew more than 200 participants from all over the world. I have also co-founded a group in Second Life to provide a platform for the professional development of language teachers. At the moment, I am participating in a one-year project ‘Teaching and learning with MUVEs’ (Massively Multi-User Virtual Environments) funded by the European Community which is in its final two months.
My article "Starting a Second Life" has been published in the English Teaching Professional, issue 61 in March 2009.
I blog and share my lesson plans and experience in teaching in Second Life at http://slexperiments.edublogs.org/
I am planning to start my MA in TESOL and Educational Technology in 2009.
