I am currently a freelance Flame/Inferno compositor doing visual effects for Feature Films and Commercials. A list of feature film credits can be seen at imdb: http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0381899.
I am also a co-founder of the leading industy web site fxguide.com. Fxguide provides news, tips, podcasts, forums for the visual effects community. A sister site fxphd.com is an online film school offering over 30 courses in all areas of visual effects, at an affordable price.
After working in television for many years as a Producer, Director and Executive Producer I found myself spending a good deal of time in post production facilities doing show opens, etc. This was when the business of post production was new so when an opportunity arose to move into it, I jumped at it.
This career has led me from Cincinnati to New York to Chicago and for the last 10+ years, Los Angeles.

SOL Designfx is a division of Cutters, a Chicago based Editorial company. In the Los Angeles office we did national commercials and some feature film work. My areas were Flame/Inferno compositing and conforming, On-Set Supervision. I also supervised the design, construction and a move into a new 5000 sq ft facility in Venice. I left when the Los Angeles office was closed to refocus on Editorial.

Editel Chicago was the leader in the Chicago market for many years. I was hired to build and operate one of the first ten D1 editing suites in the world.
We did a lot of cartoon animation with live action commercial compositing... this was before electronic ink and paint when it was all shot on film. This was very successful at meeting the goal of keeping a great deal of compositing work in Chicago that had been leaving town. We also had the strength of having sister companies in New York and Los Angeles.
Sadly, Editel was bought by Unitel and the Editel and Unitel franchises were both driven to extinction. I had moved to Los Angeles before the Chicago office closed.
