Client Development Director at AIP Corp - Premium online panels for the Asian Region - http://www.asia-info.com/global/
Greater New York City Area
29 very groovy, far out years in the fun and exciting world of Marketing Research - from Mall Interviewer to Field Director at numerous full service Market Research companies to currently the Client Development Director at AIP Corporation New York (a provider of high quality on-line panels throughout Asia).
Lots of people ask if I am a native New Yorker - Yes - grew up on Long Beach, Long Island, NY. Best place in the world for a kid in the summer! Typical day for me was going to the beach (3 blocks from home), then coming home early evening, jumping into my row boat in the canal behind my house, and going "crabbing" for blue crabs with a pole with a rope net on the end, then maybe clamming in the bay...need I say more?

1980 — 1983 (3 years )
Unemployed - hot summer day, took a walk through the frigid Gallaria Mall. Was approached by an attractive female, asked to give my opinion for $2.
I signed for the money & I recognized the manager - I shared a house with her & some other very crazed folks in the early 70s.
She asked if I wanted a job as an interviewer.
I said "what's that"?
The rest is history.
Intercepted, recruited & interviewed consumers on a wide range of projects. Trained & supervised other interviewers. Compiled reports for clients & edited completed work.
After nearly 3 years, she told me it was time to leave & sent me to Starch INRA Hooper/Roper in Mammaroneck to chat with Ruth Roller, aka, the Rollinator (whom she worked with years earlier) & to meet Davie Smith, aka, the Orange Man.
I remember the building - at the time, it had rats in the bathrooms & when it rained, the water gushed in from the ceilings. There were also two WW2 Italian machine guns outside.I still don't get that..
Liberal Arts 1973 — 1975
The school was horrible. All I remember about the place were it's co-ed dorms, massive alcohol and drug use among what seemed to be all the students, terribly race tensions, constant fights, horrible food, bugs, the smell from the chicken farms when they "harvested" the birds, and what seemed like an inordinate number of raids by the Lock Sheldrake Police Department.
1970 — 1973
Market Research. Dreaming about Market Research. Drawing pictures about Market Research. Singing ballads about Market Research. Cooking with Market Research. Wondering what shirt Paul Lubin is wearing today. Computers - enjoy working with & very comfortable with PC's. Self taught in building, upgrading and repairing. It’s the rare occasion when I cannot fix an ailing computer. I stay up to date with the latest developments. Truth, Justice & treating everyone fair and square. My boys (20 & 22, amazing human beings.....they will always be my babies). My incredible, amazing, beautiful fiancee, Indiana Ortiz, whom I absolutely love and adore. History & great Science Fiction. Remembering that between 1977 and 1995, I attended & survived [somehow] exactly 50 Grateful Dead shows and had the time of my life! (I have the ticket stubs and photos to prove it).

ACLU (yep, card carrying member - someones got to protect my right to belong to the NRA).
Natl Rifle Assn.
Amnesty Int'l (in case I get arrested in a foreign country with a gun).
AARP (like magic, the morning of my 50th b-day, I found a membership card pinned to my pajamas).
Doctors without borders (YOU should donate money to them - amazing organization!).
(The bumper stickers on my car confuse all conservatives & liberals, they kind of look, stand there, don't know what to do, then wander off.....).
The Clean Plate Club, member since March, 1961 (Nana made me join, something about "think of all the starving children in Europe").
The Laurelton Boys, 1971-1973 - myself & about a dozen buddies used to hang out at the Laurel Theater in Long Beach, Long Island, and ask each other (for hours) "what do you want to do? I don't know, what do you want to do?" Little did I know, this would create the foundation for my career in Market Research many years later......
