Advancing the use of network-based communications and media to develop new services and products enabling people to enrich their lives, through both web and mobile technology.
My recent work focuses on media-focused, user-facing applications and services, including the conception and development of new technical protocols, standards, and widely distributed applications. I have significant experience in working with content distribution, and have thought at length about content fragmentation, intellectual property, and rights management issues.

Co-founded the Open Book Alliance with Gary Reback, of counsel, Carr & Ferrell. The OBA works to advance and protect the promise of an open market in access to information. We believe that any mass book digitization and publishing effort should be open and competitive. The process of achieving this promise must be undertaken in the open, grounded in sound public policy and mindful of the need to promote long-term benefits for consumers rather than isolated commercial interests.
