Nathaniel Donnelly’s Summary
Since moving to San Diego in 2005, I have been highly involved in working with not only San Diego's military veterans, but all California veterans as well. In June, I was asked to serve on Governor Schwarzenegger's Troops to College Working Group as a student veteran of Operation: Iraqi Freedom. I have worked as an assistant office manager at the San Diego Vet Center, a Veterans Administration readjustment counseling center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Following my transfer to San Diego State University I began working in the Veterans Affairs office on campus facilitating all aspects of benefit reception by student veterans. Upon graduation I hope to continue working with the "seamless transition" of veterans from the military into higher education as well as all other readjustments to civilian life. My long-term goals include participating in foreign nation building of third-world countries and perhaps running for a state or federal political position as an Assemblyman or Congressman.

I am experienced in alternate dispute resolution and mediation and I am well versed regarding veteran health and education benefits. I have a great deal of leadership experience from holding positions ranging from Warden to Founding President in multiple university and community organizations. As a sergeant serving with 'I' Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, I was appointed as the 2nd platoon guide. I was responsible for implementing all lawful orders from the platoon commander and platoon sergeant as well as acting as a liaison between them and the rest of the platoon. Furthermore, I was responsible for coordination and aspects of training for three infantry squads as well as direction in combat environments while serving dually as a designated marksman during Operation: Iraqi Freedom.
