Assistant Veterans Coordinator at San Diego State University
Greater San Diego Area
Since moving to San Diego in 2005, I have been highly involved in working with not only San Diego's military veterans, but all California veterans as well. In June, I was asked to serve on Governor Schwarzenegger's Troops to College Working Group as a student veteran of Operation: Iraqi Freedom. I have worked as an assistant office manager at the San Diego Vet Center, a Veterans Administration readjustment counseling center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Following my transfer to San Diego State University I began working in the Veterans Affairs office on campus facilitating all aspects of benefit reception by student veterans. Upon graduation I hope to continue working with the "seamless transition" of veterans from the military into higher education as well as all other readjustments to civilian life. My long-term goals include participating in foreign nation building of third-world countries and perhaps running for a state or federal political position as an Assemblyman or Congressman.
I am experienced in alternate dispute resolution and mediation and I am well versed regarding veteran health and education benefits. I have a great deal of leadership experience from holding positions ranging from Warden to Founding President in multiple university and community organizations. My greatest strengths include integrity, character judgment, networking skills, the ability to step out of my comfort zone and time management.
