Skipper, Minimus Sailng Team
Ontario, Canada
I started sailing in offshore yachts at the age of eleven and have sailed almost 10,000 nautical miles on the Great Lakes. I am a past Shark Canadian Champion and have placed in the top ten in two World championships (3rd in 2005, 9th in 2006). Other notable results: 1st offshore division at CORK Sail Week, 2nd at the Ontario Match Racing Championships, and 4th in the Freeman Cup.
My goal is to compete in and win the 2009 Mini Transat, a single handed yacht race across the atlantic ocean that is sailed in an extreme ocean racing dinghy called the Open 6.5 or Mini.
The team is seeking a corporate partnership that will benefit both sides through internal and external communications opportunities, in exchange for the funds needed for the team to reach its goal of getting to the start line prepared to win and take on this huge challenge.

My job as the skipper of the Minimus Sailing Team is to get a boat and a sailor across the Atlantic alone and unassisted, in a 21 foot boat. To accomplish this I have a team of determined volunteers helping me and I organize the efforts of those volunteers who help me run the campaign.
The team is composed of voluteers that work in one of four main departments: Fund Raising, Technical, Administration, and Sailing. As the skipper I coordinate the efforts of the departments.
I also get to drive...
