As VP of the Interactive Web Service team at Outspark, I'm responsible for User Experience, Design, and Frontend Engineering strategy and execution for our portal, profiles, social network, store, and individual game properties.
I worked at Yahoo! for eight years prior to joining Outspark. I was one of the first web developers at Yahoo!, and was instrumental in creating and defining the practice of Web Development and Frontend Engineering. Through evolving roles as developer, manager, and evangelist on both the Engineering and User Experience & Design sides of the company, I championed modern standards-based web development, a commitment to accessibility, the creation of code and design pattern libraries, and multiple open-source and blogging initiatives. I created and maintained Yahoo!'s Graded Browser Support initiative, and worked closely with browser vendors including Microsoft on browser development. Through it all, I've focused on the intersection and coordination of design and development, helping teams understand “why” in addition to “how.”
I've been a frequent presenter and instructor at web engineering and design conferences and workshops worldwide. I write for print and online publications frequently.

On the Yahoo! User Interface (YUI) Library team I was responsible for design and engineering, training, community management, and technical evangelism of the successful open-source project.
I led the engineering of the CSS components of the library as well as the overall graphical skinning architecture.
I led workshops and training sessions on introductory and advanced usage of the library for audiences in North America, Asia, and Europe, for many partner companies, and regularly within Yahoo! for new and existing employees. Video archives of these sessions have received over 200,000 screenings.
I led our blogging, social media, and open-source engagement efforts that grew our audience to over 20,000 while making our YUIBlog a leading destination for JavaScript and Frontend Engineers worldwide.
Within Yahoo! I was responsible for the coordination of User Experience Design efforts related to the library, skin, and widget development.
I was responsible for the development of the Graded Browser Support methodology at Yahoo!, and worked closely with browser vendors — Microsoft, Mozilla, Apple, Opera, and others — to ensure an optimal user experience for Yahoo! globally.
