(Public Company; 51-200 employees; VDSI; Computer & Network Security industry)
January 2004 — Present (5 years 7 months)
I work with 2-3 other technical writers in producing high-quality documentation for system administrators and other users of VASCO's software.
Over the years in which I've worked for VASCO, I've developed new documentation templates, standardised terminology, and designed better user guides in consultation with management. I've evaluated available software and selected that best suited to our requirements. I've written requirements and specifications for each document, and provided time estimates. I've worked closely with developers, product architects and testers to ensure that information provided in our manuals is 100% correct.
(Educational Institution; 201-500 employees; Information Technology and Services industry)
August 2003 — October 2003 (3 months)
Three month contract role.
I designed and wrote the user guides for a web-based training delivery system.
(Government Agency; 10,001 or more employees; Hospital & Health Care industry)
June 2002 — August 2002 (3 months)
Contract role.
I assessed the department's needs and the viability of the product they wanted. I then designed a database, user interface and reporting system. I wrote both user manuals and technical documentation (for the use of any other developers working on the system in the future).
At heart I'm not just a tech writer - I'm a writer. I currently run three blogs, all with different themes. Unsurprisingly, I'm an avid reader. I knit and take kickboxing classes for fun and fitness. When I get the opportunity, I rockclimb or kayak.
