Nancy Block’s Summary

Nancy Block is an Assistant Vice President at Barclays Wealth in the Americas. In this role, she advises private investors on asset allocation, capital preservation, and succession and transfer strategies. Nancy joined Barclays Wealth in September 2008, as part of Barclays’ acquisition of Lehman Brothers Private Investment Management (PIM) business in the Americas. She had joined PIM in 2007 after graduating from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Before her MBA, Nancy spent five years in the publishing industry as a business unit head for two newspapers in the Block Communications Inc. family: The Blade of Toledo (winner of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Journalism) and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Nancy holds a BA in Anthropology from Yale University, an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth, and a Grand Diplome from the French Culinary Institute. As well as passing inspection by Jacques Pepin at FCI in 2000, Nancy has conducted ethnography in Ecuador in 1996; processed salmon in Alaska in 1997; taught an intensive course on Food and Ethnicity in Ohio in 2001; cooked formal dinners at a Relais & Chateaux dude ranch in the Rocky Mountains in 2000; joined the Inland Press Association on international study missions to Japan, China, South Korea, and Morocco in 2000-2002; and co-produced events with the Pittsburgh Technology Council in 2004.

Nancy received the Vicky Jackson Prize at Yale in 1999 and a grant from the Josef Albers Foundation in 1996. She has served on the boards of the Medical College of Ohio, the American Red Cross Greater Toledo Chapter, and Family House. In 2006, she was appointed to serve on the Advisory Committee for Social Responsibility for the Dartmouth College Endowment.
