Nadia Aly is armed with a Masters of Digital Media. She is a social media guru who is constantly thinking of news ways to reach audiences, generate demand and create buzz using social media tools. What fascinates her most about this new digital frontier is its amazing potential to connect human beings from all aspects of life, and from different parts of the globe.—and she is very connected-
For the last 6 years while she worked her way through school, Nadia founded properties like PeopleVancouver.com, built widgets for BC Tourism , served as the Social Media aggregator for Mobile Muse and serves on the Board for Woodward’s Community Digital Media Centre (www.CreativeTechnology.org), a not- for- profit organization focused on equipping the underprivileged with technical skills --to name just a few of her endeavors.
Her Masters in Digital Media is from the Centre for Digital Media in Vancouver BC. This program is a result of joint collaboration between University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, Emily Carr Institute and private industry sponsors.
She is currently working @ Microsoft as an Online Community Manager

Developed widgets that work with a database tracking users’ carbon reduction efforts. The data is aggregated to a master widget showing the progress of all users. Another widget tracks personal contributions of each user. These widgets can be embedded in many places online. Along with the widgets, we created an online community that acts as the main portal for this project and on which users can add photos, videos, blogs and much more.

Intensive studio experience:
At both the undergraduate and graduate levels an intensive studio experience in a critical setting defines our program. We emphasize fine art practice rather than applied art or craft training. A visiting artist lecture series enriches our program.
Areas of discipline include painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital media and video. Students may graduate with a BFA, BSC, or MFA.
Professional artists, curators, critics:
Graduates become professional artists, curators, critics, as well as professionals in fields which require creative approaches and critical thought such as the film industry, computer animation, software design and industrial design.
Exhibit and curate:
Students exhibit and curate in the department's gallery as well as in self-initiated sites in downtown Victoria. In its senior-level courses, the program encourages multi-disciplinary and self-directed studies under the guidance of our professional faculty.
