In 1999 I created my own business with three other friends. It was there I discovered the true beauty of the web, and fell in love with it! I am zealous about all aspects of web marketing, but my specialties lie in Search Engine Optimization, Blog Promotion, Affiliate Marketing, Content Management, and Permission Marketing.
Currently, I am receiving my masters at Carnegie Mellon in IT eBusiness. This degree is helping me expand my love affair with the web. I am immersed in learning Java and other web skills. I also still run my freelance company, DreamFire LLC, which helps me not be a completely starving student ;).
Recent Career Highlights:
- I was on the front page of Yahoo for co-creating a website which provided housing for the 2005 hurricane survivors. Received national and international coverage from a press release on our continual efforts to assist the survivors.
- Created a company which was instrumental in passing the Child Abduction Prevention Act and The Child Obscenity and Pornography Prevention Act of 2003. These efforts were largely through traditional and web marketing.
- Gained recognition by taking 1st place in the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge. Received $10,000 seed money to launch the business. Also, was bestowed the Wayne Brown Institute Award and the Award of Excellence from the Mountain West Venture Group, which awarded us the best business plan of the year and helped us win a consulting package worth $20,000.
To add you to my network I'd like to know you first. How can you get to know me? Comment on my blog. Email me. Meet me at a conference, etc.

Philosophy , 2005
Many people are surprised to see that I have a degree in Philosophy, particularly when I am so passionate about marketing. I actually began my college career in marketing. However, at that time I saw a lot of success running my own business, and I needed to have a change up from work to school. I decided on philosophy because I have always liked the classics. If I had known what I was going to get myself into I wouldn't have even touched philosophy. However, I didn't know, and plunged into the deep thoughts of our great thinkers.
I must admit philosophy has given me a unique approach and mindset with my marketing career. I have learned to be reflective on all the information I collect. Why is this important? How can it help the greater good? And, is it possible to conceptualize these lessons into universal principles? It has been these types of thoughts which have helped me develop a methodology with Internet marketing.
My passion and first love is blogging (absurdities and all). I used to tell people I was an internet marketer, but recently I have realized that in my heart I am a blogger through and through. Blogging does incorporate web marketing, but blogging is deeper and more meaningful than just trying to get the user to buy something. It’s about building a community of like minded people, which, for me at least, is a lot harder than building a marketing campaign and getting people to buy. You can read about my professional thoughts on www.mymarketer.net, my personal pontifications at www.internetpaul.com, and my political rants at www.utahvoices.com.
