Narrated film and conducted all interviews with writers, poets, and local cultural figures that help define the quintessential character of that area. Co-Chair for 2007 Day of the Dead
Participated in the reviewing and updating of Board and personnel policies, strategic planning, recruiting new members, reviewing and authorizing the yearly budget, conducting fundraising. As the 2007 Day of the Dead Co-Chair, co-coordinated the planning of all aspects of the event including generating and maintaining an event budget, was responsible for procuring donations from restaurants, local and international artists, private sectors and making decisions on event marketing materials. Recruited volunteers and delegated duties. As a direct result of my efforts, the Day of the Dead event was Lawndale’s most financially successful to date.

Aided in updating the strategic plan and evaluating the implementation of the plan presented by DiverseWorks staff. Responsible for general oversight of the DiverseWorks programs and evaluating the performance of the organization in achieving its mission. Played a leading role in fundraising activities. As the 2006 Gala Chair, oversaw the event budget, developed an agenda, recruited a team, ran committee meetings, ensured committees were on target , and helped secure sponsorship at all levels. The 2006 DiverseWorks Gala raised 20% more funds than the previous year‘s event.
