Identifying and eradicating profit erosion, where customers were manipulating the customer satisfaction policy to obtain goods or rebates to build in extra margin/deepen discounts. E.g. minor damage to some percentage of the pallet, being compensated by entire pallet at 50% discount, or if more major, the whole pallet free of charge. The customers quickly realised the remaining product was absolutely fine and resaleable and exploited this cynically for some time and at some cost to the business.

I introduced a thorough quality checking process (signed-off check sheet with 'photographic records on dispatch) and shifted the liability to the TPL/3PL distribution provider as third party verification, and thereby ring-fenced off the localised in transport liabilities. Where Driver error caused damage, this was therefore costed back to the Logistics provider.

The end result was improved customer satisfaction and a substantial reduction in wasted haulage, less 'Driver' caused issues, reduced product write-offs and reduced lost time.
