At my last big job I used to manage and develop the data warehouse of Italy’s largest and leading retailer. I have been working on the architecture, ETL and performance of this Very Large Oracle Database for the past two years.
Few months ago I left Italy and moved to Poland, I'm working as Italian teacher and linguistic tester of video games, in the meantime I'm studying Polish and doing some php applications.
For the last six years I've been working as software analyst and developer in Windows systems, particularly in operational and office automation ambits. After few years as VB and C/C++ developer, I started to work with Oracle database developing in PL/SQL and Oracle Forms.
During the last two years the experience matured with Oracle database has led me to hold the management and evolution of the data warehouse of the leader of italian market of the large-scale retail trade.

Coop Italia is the leader of the large-scale retail trade in Italy, Centrale Adriatica groups the stores from Friuli to Puglia regions, covering approximately the third part of the sell volume of all Coop.
The DWH of Centrale Adriatica is the analysis tool of the movement of sold and bought products of all store, to the level of details of single day and item. The application uses a Oracle 9i database (about 1 Terabyte) and Oracle Sales Analyzer as user frontend.
The main activities done during this project:
- Analysis, development and performance optimization of packages and procedures, using the advanced functionalities of query tuning of Oracle 9i.
- Administration of loading problems from and to data providers.
- Management and evolutive maintenance of OSA.
- Analysis and development of tools for the office automation with MS Access, MS Excel and JSP.
- Analysis and development of tools for the check of data quality.

The project, started with a MS Access database, subsequentlyhave shifted its database to Oracle 8i, integrating the PL/SQL procedures with the tools (forms, queries and reports) developed in MS Access. The front-end was created dynamically with MS Excel and Visual Basic for Application.
