As we increasingly embrace new technologies and move towards more user-oriented spaces, libraries are at an interesting time in their evolution. I find it both stimulating and challenging to experience and be part of this process.
My role at Swinburne, which is a cross-sectoral educational institution, involves working in a small team, at a medium sized campus. We provide information services to a diverse range of students and staff, from both the TAFE and Higher Education sectors. I work at the Information Desk and collaborate with academic staff designing and providing information literacy training.
I have a broad subject base, liaising with academic staff in the Departments of Child Care & Family Studies, Community Services, Nursing & Aged Care, Visual & Performing Arts and Business, to support their specific information needs for delivering teaching programs.
My experience in libraries has been in both the public and tertiary sector and I have also worked as a classroom teacher at post-primary level.
