PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
* Five years of industrial research experience in wireless networking as Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs Research Division.
* Ten years of academic research experience in wireless communications, membedded systems, low-power design, sensor networks, and mobile computing at UCLA. Obtained and managed as PI or Co-PI research projects totalling more that $10M in funding from various defense agencies (DARPA, ONR, ARL), companies (Cisco, Conexant, Intel, Nokia, Synopsys), and NSF. Besides academic papers (more than 200) and research students (12 Ph.D. and 22 M.S. graduates placed at top companies such as Broadcom, Ericson, Google, Microsoft Research, Raytheon etc., and as faculty at top schools such as Purdue, UCSD, and Yale), results from research also include widely used artifacts such as SOS operating system for sensor networks. Current research focused on wireless communication systems and protocols, distributed wireless sensing and actuation, and on pervasive sensing and computing applications.
* Ten years of consulting experience in advanced industrial R&D and product development in ad hoc wireless networks, and multimedia home networking systems and chips, and as expert in intellectual property / patent cases.
* Several years of editorial experience on boards of top technical journals from ACM and IEEE.
GOALS:
* Have fun working with the great students in my research group.
* Develop some cool idea, create a successful company, get rich, and retire :-)
