For the past several years, as a patent litigation support visualizationalist, I have had the pleasure of synthesizing my broad scientific and technical knowledge with computer visualization techniques that have been a life-long passion.
I have relished the challenges afforded by taking on fresh new concepts with each project. Working closely with inspired attorneys and sublimely specialized experts to craft accurate, informative, and on-message visuals is a joy.
In the future, I hope to continue to find avenues for working in collaboration with smart and creative peers, devising novel ways to make the abstract accessible. This may continue to take place in the context of litigation support, or in education, interactives design, or a broad variety of other fields to which my skills would be well-suited.
Some cases I've worked on:
MercExchange v eBay (Skadden)
DVD CCA v Kaleidescape (Tom Moore)
Epistar v LumiLED (Akin Gump)
Installshield v Macrovision (Quinn Emanuel)
Skyline Software v Google (Fenwick & West)
Compuware v IBM (Fenwick & West)
University of Pittsburgh v Varian (Morgan Lewis)
Asyst v Jenoptik/Empak/Emtrak (Fenwick & West)
Optima v Roxio (Holland Knight)
University of California v Monsanto (Quinn Emanuel)
3Com v Realtek (Akin Gump)
HP v Gateway (Greenberg Traurig)
Data Treasury v First Data (Sidley & Austin)
O2Micro v MPS (Fenwick & West)

January 2009 — Present (11 months)
I work in a group at the hall called ScienceView. We create visualizations and other tech tools to aid in science education. Most of my work currently revolves around the multimedia components of the FOSS K-8 science curriculum.
(Legal Services industry)
June 2004 — Present (5 years 6 months)
I devise and create interactive tutorials of scientific and technical concepts for presentation in patent litigation trials. In addition to conceptualization implementation, and display of produced multimedia, my position involves project management encompassing scheduling, waypoints, budgeting, delegation/distribution of work tasks, and project archiving.
Creating accurate and persuasive interactives requires working in concert with attorneys and experts to craft effective messaging, often under strict deadlines and in high-pressure courtroom situations.
In addition, I am responsible for managing and procuring the technological resources required to do the job. This includes both hardware and software, local and remote.
(Design industry)
June 2002 — June 2004 (2 years 1 month)
As a freelance web and motion graphics designer, I focus on educational and interactive media. Past projects include websites, interactive Flash interfaces, educational video production (English and Spanish), plus identity and print design.
(Museums and Institutions industry)
October 2001 — June 2002 (9 months)
I worked with student groups visiting the museum, guiding visits, answering questions and explaining concepts, as well as giving presentations on featured concepts.
(Primary/Secondary Education industry)
June 2000 — August 2001 (1 year 3 months)
As a classroom science teacher, I focused on ascertaining and targeting the learning style of each student - finding ways to link abstract ideas to established experiences.
