Currently employed as the manager of the engineering team at LizardTech working on next-generation systems for managing massive (GB+) datasets in the Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) market -- relevant buzzwords include image compression, wavelets, MrSID, MG2/MG3, JPEG 2000, NITF, streaming, progressive transmission, raster imaging, open source, geospatial technology, ad inf.
My work at LizardTech has included state-of-the-art image compression R&D; image/raster SDK design, development, and maintenance; technical evangelism and standards groups stuff; and much more along these lines.
(Prior to LizardTech, I was a compiler jock working on back-end and middle-end optimizations for high performance systems: 4 years of graduate work in compiler design, followed by stints at both Tera's and Intel's compiler teams.)
I have side interests in automated build and test systems, the dynamics of small software teams, and high performance computing.
I am also a Charter Member of OSGeo, the Open Source Geospatial Foundation.
Full resume available on request.
