Adjunkt at Aabenraa Statsskole
Odense Area, Denmark
I've been working with film, theatre, video and digital media platforms for the last 10 years.
On the side, I've managed to complete two university degrees, in History and Applied Visual Communications respectively. I've built wikis, board and computer games and abstract academic systems. I've juggled with texts, code, images, video and other kinds of material in a plethora of genres, setups and technological platforms. I've also written a thesis on the introduction of the Maxim Gun in colonial Africa.
As of August 2009 I employ a position as teacher at Aabenraa Statsskole in history and media, a school with a strong film & media tradition and a creative environment which attracts students from all over southern Denmark. I look forward to a new experience of learning for me, and to find ways to share my experience in history as well as media with my students - as well as help enable my students to become great information sharers themselves, of their own experience, building their own architectures, stories and identities.

In Kaplak we're building internet distribution tools for cultural products on the slim end of the long tail, and making a sound business out of it too. We're building and strengthening peer production tools in order to create better ways to match production and demand, than has hitherto been possible. This creates great value for millions of people, who would otherwise have few or difficult ways to make their products available, or find the products they need. Otherwise unsuccessful queries, made every day on web search engines and indexes, and on p2p networks, is a huge business opportunity.

Crewscut.com is a wiki dedicated to cultural projects, which I've lived with for a couple of years now, and learned a lot from. The wiki is first and foremost a great personal tool for it's users, to keep track of projects, thoughts, interesting links, texts, images and details of obscure information, which doesn't fit anywhere else. The wiki is mainly written and administrated in Danish, and only to a minor degree in English.

Landsarkivet for Fyn, the regional archives institution under the National Danish Archives (Statens Arkiver) received a greater than usual amount of material in 2006, as a result of the re-organization of the Danish regional structure and bureaucracy. Additional funding were secured to bring in extra manpower to secure, sort and package the archives safely, knowledgeably and speedily. It was a great team to work with, a mixture of historians, student aids and archival experts, and a welcome refreshing change from research on my thesis.

I worked in the distribution department of the publishing house, basically self-organizing the storage facility in collaboration with 4 other student aids and packing (a lot of) books for delivery. It is the best student's job I ever had - just wished I had found it earlier in my studies.

"Ude af fokus" (literally meaning "out of focus") was a weekly academic radio talkshow featured on Odense Studenterradio, the grassroot's radio station for students in Odense. The program typically featured one or more guests, invited to discuss a particular topic of the week, from an academic angle. It was a lot of fun and also a lot of hard work to be inventive enough to do a live radio show every week for a complete season, and I/we learned a lot from it too.

The Dept. of History at University of Southern Denmark was in need of a website, which combined the daily need of the staff to communicate with students and the students' need for online communication of events, seminars, social activities, new research, jobs & career opportunities etc. to other students. I merged two old existing websites into one and created a new and lighter approach, which worked well for a few years. Sadly, the site became a tad neglected as funds ran thin, other admins carried on the work, and the "local sites" of faculties and departments collided with wishes of the central administration for a grand, general IT and "branding" strategy. But the site continues to be in use.

Rubicon is a periodical edited and published by the history students at the University of Southern Denmark. Rubicon provides a spirited and academically highly vigorous and ambitious environment for scholars and students alike, so much so that an "official" historical periodical based at the History dept. at the university does not exist.

Hard Joy PD was a mail order software library. It contained thousands of public domain and shareware titles on floppy disks for the Amiga computer, which were labouriously manually copied and distributed to customers in packed envelopes. In the days before the internet made software like this accessible to everyone, there was a thriving business model in making this type of software available via mail order.
