Online Community Manager at the National Alliance for Media Arts & Culture
San Francisco Bay Area
I enjoy using my creativity and enthusiasm for technology to connect people and organizations to the resources they need. I am always seeking ways to leverage these qualities in service to helping creative communities actualize their potential.
Currently, I work at the National Alliance For Media Arts & Culture under the auspices of the AmeriCorps *VISTA CTC Project. This means I have dual positions/responsibilities with two great media/technology-centric organizations.
At NAMAC, I serve as their Online Community Manager and oversee all aspects of their web presence and infrastructure. This entails managing NAMAC's profiles on various social networks as well as coordinating the technical and strategic 'backend' to support this. Whether figuring out the best way to use Facebook or LinkedIn for NAMAC and its members or developing and configuring our content management system, I work a sharp mix of technical and social on behalf of NAMAC.
As a proud AmeriCorps CTC VISTA, I serve as a VISTA Leader and consult with new and incoming VISTAs to help them do their best at the organizations they serve with. I do this by advising and supporting VISTAs through a variety of online mediums.
Prior to joining NAMAC, I served as a first year VISTA at the San Diego LGBT Community Center and headed the creation of their Digital Storytelling Program. I also developed a knowledge management system (utilizing Drupal/CiviCRM) for the San Diego Community Technology Coalition. I also co-founded the 3rd node of Share, a global network of new media artists dedicated to spontaneous and open ‘jams’.
In my spare time you can find me composing, performing and djing live electronic music.
I currently hold a self-designed BA in Critical Inquiries in New Media Technologies from the University of California, Santa Cruz and plan to one day, pursue an advanced degree in Community Informatics and Information Design.
