After having volunteered in her community for several years, Monica Nelson continues to feel immense satisfaction donating her time and energy to those who are in need. To help protect her neighbors and her community, Monica Nelson has volunteered as a member of the American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Disaster Action Team, a disaster-preparedness group that provides immediate assistance to those affected by a disaster in their area. Monica Nelson also helps adults achieve their dream of attaining higher education degrees by volunteering as a mathematics tutor. Monica is also an active member of Global Links, an organization that delivers surplus, U.S. medical supplies to hospitals in third world countries. Monica Nelson attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she studied Journalism and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. Today, Monica still lives and volunteers in Milwaukee and is an avid athlete, and enjoys hiking, tennis, cycling, and cross-country skiing. She also enjoys cooking, reading, writing, and lace-making in her spare time.
