Matthew Knell’s Summary

I am a technologist, someone who can take the building blocks of the Internet, and the social experience that the web is continuing to provide, and put them together to build dynamic, exciting and profitable products for forward-looking corporations. My passion is innovation, and the web provides the perfect avenue with an ever-changing landscape of new trends and technologies.

My professional Internet experience started with The Mining Company as a web guide in 1997. From there I advanced into production work with the Marketing and Revenue Programs team. After The Mining Company became About.com and after a stint managing distribution and production for the Luna Network affiliate ad program, came time in About's Pay-Per-Click product Sprinks. There, I designed and managed front-end development of the Sprinks purchasing interface, and helped to invent a patent-pending link purchasing interface called ContentSprinks. Google acquired the IP of Sprinks in late 2003, including this patent application.

After a short stint in product management and design with Scholastic designing a learning management system, I joined JetBlue in January 2004. For the next three years, My primary function included the managing design, production and product development for jetblue.com. After being promoted 4 times in 3 years, I left JetBlue as General Manager of jetblue.com.

Currently, I work with MTV Networks on various social media programs, most notably the integration of Flux with MTV Networks and Viacom brands.

I have done lengthy stints in production, project management, user interface design, product management and development, visual design, application development, with specialties in marketing, social media, analytics and e-commerce. I enjoy sharing all of my previous knowledge and helping people to get started in the social media and Internet fields and embrace technology as an ally in the business and personal lives.
