Mirjam Neelen's Summary

As a Learning Designer, I earned a reputation as a pro-active, passionate advocate for effective and innovative practices in learning delivery, in particular research-based social and informal learning solutions. The research proposals that I have written for Google strive to support learning on the job and to help people learn how to learn which focuses on increasing performance in an effective and efficient way.

One example of how I design with both effectivity and efficiency in mind is a blended (self-paced in combination with Hangout and a community of practice) onboarding solution that I designed and developed for Google. This solution decreases the time investment for a new hire 1 full work day. Because the training is remote, the new hire does not have to interrupt the workflow. The solution also ensures that new hires will be job ready by connecting typical onboarding content to the new hire’s role. It also includes a research-based community strategy so that new hires have a one stop shop platform to connect with other new hires and experts, so that they can solve challenges quickly.

I can adapt to new environments quickly; I have worked and lived in 4 different countries with a wide variety of clients and learners from a wide variety of backgrounds. I am highly results-driven; I completed 1 Bachelor’s and 2 Master’s, have increased my English to a professional level in only a couple of months after I moved to the United States, and have consistently delivered projects on-time.

Specialties: eLearning, mobile learning, informal learning, social learning, ILT, blended solutions
