Mireille Hildebrandt’s Summary

Being a lawyer and a legal philosopher I have been working on the impacts of profiling technologies on human identity and legal subjectivity. This involves isssues of liability, causality, data protection, privacy, non-discrimination and intellectual property.

    The Tutor System (het Rotterdamse mentorstelsel) trained a selection of excellent senior law students to guide first year students during their weekly sessions. The first year students had to work on assignments prepared by the teaching staff of the law school. The tutors (mentoren) used a Socratic method to induce students to construct the right answers, thus provoking independent, critial and creative argumentation.
