I am a web analytics consultant and internet geek. Freely admit it! I like all things Web 2.0 and more importantly in understanding how they affect busineses in both a positive and negative way.

I was hired to review the implementation of WebTrends across Unilever.com and all the country sites. This involved working closely with third parties and various stakeholders across the business doing requirements gathering exercises and then turning this agreed actions into actionable insight. I was also hired to review the internal communities sites and provide recommendations on best practises and provide a way forward. Unilever also has a social networking site providing its 100,000+ employees with news about brands and company information. This social networking site required retagging of the site and a re-evaluation of the reporting.

Barclaycard wanted to get real benefit from their chosen web analytics tool across a number of their strategic business units. My role was to specify the tagging for online applications, brochureware pages, account servicing. Provide a reporting interface, build in a high level of automation via VBA into Excel and Access models as well as schedule reports for regular mailing to stakeholders.
I also built and delivered a training module for testing the tagging solution, how to get insight from the reporting and also liased heavily with development teams in ensuring that they understood the need for tagging and how to tag correctly.
The business areas included UK Cards, Business, International, BHS Credit Card, Hilton Honors Card, IHG Partnerships, Argos Mastercard, Thomas Cook Credit Card aswell as various projects.
