CEO, RampUp Solutions, Inc a provider of culture, retention and motivation solutions for startups/growth-stage companies

As CEO of RampUp Solutions, I provide founders and startup executives with affordable, out-of-the-box ways to improve their bottom line through employee motivation, communication, incentives and culture.
I'm a dedicated simplifier – verbally direct, but with a relaxed, humorous style that saves time and money while reducing client stress. During more than 25 years of successful recruiting I developed an in-depth understanding of the bottom line impact of employees who are turned on—and off, and I now have 10 years of experience turning that knowledge into solutions for startups and their leaders.
In 1993, I wrote The Swamp and the Alligators: a (slightly irreverent) guide to career planning and the search process and was named Author-in-Residence at San Francisco State University's Career Center.
I was born/raised in Denver (CO), spent 25 years in San Francisco (CA) and currently live with 2 cats in Washougal (WA) across the river from Portland (OR). I'm very much a cat person; love reading and conversation; and mess around the garden. My license plates are “Miki MOU” (Master Of the Universe)—I have the Miki down pat and am working on the MOU.
Currently, I'm especially interested in meeting startup executives looking to fairly and equitably allocate and manage their stock option plan as beta testers for our latest product, OptionSanity™.

Author of "Leadership Turn"
Because there is so much leadership information being presented and recycled in slightly different guise all around the Net, I'm working to take Leadership Turn in a different direction, exploring facets that have been overlooked or are a bit off the beaten path; exploding myths that have grown up around the idea of leadership; and disagreeing or playing Devil's Advocate to various long-accepted concepts. This allows me to enjoy what I'm doing while engendering more dialog and provoking more thinking outside the established leadership industry box.

RampUp Solutions helps startups and young, fast-growing companies recruit, motivate and retain top talent by building a winning corporate culture and doing more with less—a necessity in today's business world.
We do this using MAP (mindset, attitude, philosophy)™, a framework we developed that helps startup executives build attractive and strong yet flexible cultures, strengthen communications, reduce burnout and improve retention. MAP coaching is predicated on the belief that every outcome starts with a thought, so "To change what they do, change how you think.™"
Author, The Swamp and the Alligators: a (slightly irreverent) guide to career planning and the search process (1997) "A guide to career-as-part-of-life planning along with solid information that demystifies the job hunting process, debunks a lot of the myths surrounding it and provides tools that, combined with your own skills, talents and intelligence, help you achieve it."
