Have extensive experience in the storage industry and in various capacities, e.g., marketing, engineering, operations and sales.
Over the years, I've had the opportunity to pioneer in the following areas:
1. Clustered RAID
2. Distributed RAID management
3. Industry's first Linux-based NAS
4. Converged block and file
5. Developed an appliance as a platform, which was adopted by numerous OEMs
More recently, I've developed a new caching filesystem, which makes up for the performance losses associated with parity-based RAID, can allow SATA drives to outperform the use of SAS, DRAM and SSDs in storage systems, and doesn't degrade write performance due to fragmentation as the filesystem fills up.
Have developed some new SaaS capabilities to provide a secure, scalable, distributed/federated storage pool that doesn't result in rising OPEX as demand increases.
Developed new backup capabilities that provide the following:
1. Allows local network speeds for backup and is faster than deploying a multi-drive appliance in the home or small office
2. Allows the use of a small, hard-drive sized appliance as a gateway to an unlimited backup pool, which corrects the current backup problem of having to deploy more backup storage than the data being backed up
3. Full block-based ILM that keeps most recent or frequently accessed data on local filesystem and aged/archived data on slower/Cloud storage
4. Is more secure than file or filesystem-based encryption
5. Is 99.99999% (seven nines) reliable
And I've been busy optimizing server virtualization so that virtualized Guest operating systems and their applications can outperform deployment on native hardware.
I routinely consult in various areas, am currently nurturing my baby, Sullego, and have two more companies in the crock pot.
That's about it. For now.
Software development, rapid prototyping of software and hardware, hardware layout and design, product marketing, logistics, negotiations, manufacturing, and I'm sure more
